I’ve read all the bad reviews, & honestly I haven’t seen not one issue. I don’t ever hear the train, the parking garage is fairly lit up and the gate works. The management team, the maintenance, all the workers have all been nice. And I love how they have little pop ups, like free popcorn etc… it’s a really great apartment in my eyes and it’s very well kept up.

Living at The Baldwin was genuinely one of the best rental experiences I’ve had, and I still miss it dearly. From the moment I moved in, it felt like home — cozy, welcoming, and stylish. I stayed in one of their smaller floor plans (I think the smallest one, actually), but even that unit felt surprisingly upscale and spacious for a single person. The design, finishes, and layout were all super nice — if mine looked that good, I can only imagine how stunning the larger units are. A friend of mine lived in a bigger unit, and theirs was seriously next-level.
The location is honestly unbeatable. You're in the heart of St. Paul Square, so bars, restaurants, and fun things to do are just steps away — like literally no excuse to drive unless you were super lazy or maybe hungover. It made my time in San Antonio feel so vibrant and connected. Also, very dog-friendly, with a dedicated dog park onsite. Only downside was the lack of proper drainage — on hotter days, the smell from pet waste could get intense.
The pool was the perfect size — not massive, but never overcrowded either. A great place to chill without feeling like you’re at a wild pool party. Rent was more than reasonable for the area and the amenities, especially considering how nice the units are. I was initially worried I wouldn’t be able to afford such a sleek-looking place, but it turned out to be a great value.
Neighbors were another huge plus. Everyone I met was friendly and respectful, and I ended up making three forever friends during my stay — something that’s pretty rare in apartment living these days; thanks to all of our dogs. I swear dogs are the best way to meet people and make friends. Maintenance was quick and efficient; the maintenance manager reminded me of one of my uncles and was always a friendly face to see around the property.
That said, no place is perfect. Noise became a big issue for me toward the end of my stay. I worked night shifts, and my upstairs neighbor had a young child who ran, stomped, and dropped things all day — it made sleeping really hard. The walls weren’t bad side-to-side, but the floors were paper thin. Some nights I also overheard loud arguments from down the hallway. I do wish the property had stricter noise policies in place, especially for weekdays. Like after a bit, enough is enough you know? Like honestly sometimes a “zero tolerance” policy felt it was needed.
There were also a few infrastructure hiccups. The elevator next to the garage was out of service way too often, and since the parking garage only connects to the building on the second floor — and not directly via stairs — I had to walk outside, loop around, and re-enter to get to my car. It made what should’ve been a simple trip unnecessarily annoying. The parking gate also broke down a few times.
Management-wise, it was a mixed bag. The property manager was always kind when I interacted with her, but we didn’t cross paths often. The leasing manager was great — super helpful and professional — but only handled leasing, not general issues. The community manager, though, wasn’t always the most approachable. I sometimes felt spoken down to, which wasn’t appreciated. As a grown adult, I don’t expect to be talked to in a patronizing tone.
Despite those small frustrations, I honestly look back on my time at The Baldwin with a lot of fondness. The location, the look and feel of the property, and the general atmosphere all made it a fantastic place to live. I took a leap of faith choosing this place without touring it first (due to work constraints), but I’m so glad I did — they really set the bar high.
When I move back to San Antonio, The Baldwin will be the first place I check out. I’d move back in a heartbeat.

If you want to live in a place with a beautiful facade and refuses to fix the garage gate because a “resident” broke it….then by all means sign up. I adored this place until the excuses became absurd. Very sad and frankly security does not seem to matter to management. I walk thru a dark garage with a broken gate almost every night since before December.
I is The elevator in my wing has also been consistently broken. I have never been so disappointed or surprised at the lack of service. My 3rd year here and my last. Sure everyone is nice in the office but it is unacceptable to deal with broken gates, and elevators and doors that don’t secure with the when shut. These are not minor issues….

DO NOT MOVE HERE. SERIOUSLY DO NOT MOVE TO THIS APARTMENT COMPLEX. Management is awful and completely ineffective. The gate for the parking garage has been broken for over a year, there have been numerous car break ins, there was an unhoused person living in the staircase to access the building from the garage, you can access the entire inside of the complex without any FOB through the apartment parking garage so literally anyone can get into the “secure” building, there is RAMPANT black mold, property management never lets you know when they’re coming into your apartment, and they are unresponsive to most complaints. The elevators are broken half the time and the entire first floor smells like raw sewage most days. The only thing I recommend about this place is the rowing machine in the apartment gym (but sorry, the stretching room at the gym also smells like raw sewage so you probably won’t use that space). DON’T MOVE HERE. FIND ANOTHER DOWNTOWN APARTMENT.
