I want to share my NEGATIVE experience with these apartments. I have lived here for years and as of July 2024, renting here was nothing but absolute misery. Hurricane Beryl of course, affected so many residents in our community, but the handling of the damages we sustained was nothing but FAILURE for management here. Every single building had shingles completely blown off, debris was everywhere for MONTHS, the whole complex was trashed. I reported a leak in my ceiling on a Wednesday, as soon as I saw the spot I called Monica. She told me someone would come out to take a look and cut the sheet rock before it came down. She did not come out until FRIDAY at lunch. She took some pictures and told me someone would be out to remove the panel before it came down. No one came out that day. Saturday morning it was pouring outside and I was in the room trying to see what I could do about the dripping. The ceiling came down right next to me, pouring water all over the room. I called her and she said someone would come back out to remove the debris, no one came until Sunday. Several of my neighbors also had water leaks and had their ceilings come down. Monica reassured us that the insurance would come out take pictures and mitigate damages. We had to call in to check on the status so many times. We were always promised return calls with updates, which of course we never got. Through these MONTHS of having our units damaged, we NEVER were offered a reduced rent rate. I sent letters to corporate, had signed letters from my neighbors and myself requesting rent credits. Also through these months, I had wasps getting into my bedroom and I am allergic. I called and of course, was told pest control would come out, but I kept getting wasps even the day I moved. Early November, I started having mold issues, it took over a week and multiple calls to get them to come cut it out. Monica also stated at that time, she didn’t realize how bad my damage was, and that she would add me to her list of severely damaged units. She also offered to move me into another unit. Mind you we were about to get into the holidays and I am was very busy with work, there was no way I’d have time. Monica said any day now the insurance was going to authorize repairs on our units. December right after Christmas, I finally had enough. I was so sick of sleeping on my mattress in my living room, paying full rent and not having use of my bedroom, and living somewhere that was continuing to fail its residents. I went in and broke my lease, hoping to find some other apartment that values their residents. I officially didn’t have to move out until beginning of February. I moved out on New Year’s Day, and barley turned in my key last week. The WORST part of this experience, was when I went to break my lease. I told Monica I would go by at lunch to pay whatever fees they charged. I kid not, ten minutes before I went in, she called me telling me repairs were just approved by insurance, AND ASKED IF I WANT MY CEILING FIXED AND NOT BREAK MY LEASE. The disrespect and lack of awareness of what we’ve deal with over these five months is absolutely FAILURE on her part. Y'all should be ASHAMED. And no I didn’t clean when I moved out, you can use my rent money you charged me and hire someone or clean it yourself. I have told so many people never to move here and definitely encouraged my neighbors to leave these horribly managed apartments. It just seems their only priority was to bring in new residents, while their current ones were ignored. Posting on Facebook, telling Edgewater residents to move over when they were having the city turn off the water. That is absolutely childish behavior and shows a lot about your character and lack of ethical business practice. Take some time to reflect on your failure and incompetence and maybe your complex would thrive instead of becoming an embarrassment to the community. Learn some accountability. Just to confirm, since their reply indicates that I just lie about everything, I left specifically because of management. :)
