STAY AWAY FROM BX5!!!!! Our water has been COLD since the last week of January or whenever they worked on the boiler of The Bentley, building 19. They'll close maintenance requests without even visiting to try and fulfill them. They've done it twice now. Multiple structural issues that allow in cold air and have given me a $500 electric bill for January. My wife is pregnant, we have no hot water to clean anything even ourselves, can't keep the place warm AND we've have a roach problem since we've gotten here. Code compliance has been called twice in 6 months. First over our AC going out, that request was closed without checking as well and now for the water issue. No matter how clean (they're getting in through the holes in the walls).Me being a vet gives me access to certain services, but others can't say that. Of course, the full rent is being charged. KEEP YOUR MONEY, DON'T STAY HERE. They're more worried about stray cats, than fixing the building and keeping tenants happy. UPDATE: We got a notice to vacate on 3/5/25 and I water finally became "fixed" on 3/8/25. They refused to receive March AND April's rent from my veterans organization and they continually turn off the hot water without notice. We have a newborn not even a month old and we can't even consistently bathe her because of this place. The air conditioning is not it either. Better to turn it off and crack a window, it's cooler outside than inside these derelict apartments. DON'T LIVE HERE. ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE BLACK OR A VETERAN.

I had a wonderful experience moving in with leasing manger Kerri! She is lovely and attentive. She kept me updated on their specials, application, fees, and processing of my move-in. From the tour to signing and getting my keys she made me feel welcome and at home. I couldn’t have asked for more and she is a quick, efficient communicator and answers every question you have. All their leasing agents are kind and helpful, though she’s my favorite.
The maintenance team, specifically Sidney and Chris, do a wonderful job. They are attentive and show real concern for issues that arise. Sidney inspected my unit within the first few days of my lease and got right to work when he notice something not up to their standards. There was very clear communication and they both insisted on helping with things I may not have noticed myself.

Communication with staff is vague. In the application process, and no one calls to say this needs to be done, or that needs to be done. Documentation they need I provided in the other documents section. Tried to explain to one agent, and she was blowing me off. I leave several emails, vms, I even text the number, and barely get a response. Application fees are too high, and NON REFUNDABLE, to not be in constant contact with a prospective tenant. After reading the reviews of bugs, break ins, water shut offs, and poor maintenance, I’m definitely on the fence now. We have a 4 month old, and that type of living condition would be so unacceptable!
Update: Did run into a block, in the application process (again), but I do recommend working with Kerri. She genuinely shows care, and concern. You can hear the compassion in her voice, and I do believe she will do her best to make the process run smoothly. Easy to talk to, and very understanding. I’m in another state, so it’s very frustrating, but she’s a done a good job of putting my mind at ease. Definitely ask for Kerri.

If I could leave 0 stars, I would. I lived here last year. The leasing process? Awful. Kept having to call repeatedly (they never ever answer their phones unless you call 15 times in a row) for any kind of update and the process was so awful that management waved our deposit. AC was out for an entire week when we moved in. They were falsely advertising gym facilities upon move in. Even went as far as telling us that a random building on property was the gym under construction and would be open in December. Had gyms on the property map but nobody could find them. Initially, we had security that patrolled at all times which was nice given the area is questionable. Then they got rid of security when new management took over and the grounds just got absolutely horrible. Hot water CONSTANTLY going out. So bad to the point of us having to get the city involved to fine the apartments. Getting ahold of maintenance or the office for anything? IMPOSSIBLE. You had to physically go in to get ANYTHING done. The pools they advertise? NEVER EVER open. And if they claim they’re “open”, they’re all dirty and not maintained AT ALL. Disgusting apartments. Disgusting management.
