I would not recommend living here. The 4th floor consistently smells due to residents allowing their dogs to urinate directly on the concrete. This has been an issue for over a year, and I have never seen the grounds power-washed or properly cleaned.
Trash is often scattered around the garage, adding to the feeling that the property is poorly maintained. For the amount residents are paying, the lack of cleanliness and upkeep is incredibly disappointing.
I’d greatly suggest looking elsewhere.

Update 7/15/25:
If you're considering living on the 4th floor, be prepared for potentially high electricity bills. In just one year, we spent over $2,500 on electricity alone. Because these apartments are older and not very energy efficient, keeping the unit comfortable year-round was a challenge, especially on the top floor.
We struggled to keep it cool in the summer and warm in the winter, meaning our HVAC system was constantly running. At one point, we used nearly 2,000 kWh in a single month—that's the kind of usage you'd expect from a 4,000 sq. ft. house, not an apartment. Something to consider before signing here.

The new management team is a "breath of fresh air" and are resident centric. They are laser focused on improving the property due to previous Management Team negligence, and are proceeding in a positive direction! Although the new Management Team has only been in place for 5 months, I find them very friendly and knowledgeable! I have lived at Prairie Crossing for 2+ years, and I am impressed with the new management team! Terry A

I thought about not writing a review, but decided I should in hopes of saving someone from the troubles of living here.
We moved in during 2023, when Portico was the management company. They were wonderful—kind, prompt, and treated everyone like family. They were flexible and easy to work with. We never had any issues with Portico. Blake, Robyn, Cassie, Michelle, Gus, Alex, and others were all incredible employees who consistently went above and beyond.
Yes, there were occasional issues, like fire alarm problems and minor maintenance concerns, but they were always quick to address them. This was the first apartment my boyfriend and I moved into together, and we truly made it feel like home—until November, when Murn took over.
I was devastated to hear that they removed the entire former staff and hired a new team—because this new team is terrible.
Our rent was posted incorrectly, so I went to the office to get it resolved. While waiting, I overheard the new leasing agents complaining about residents who use Flex Pay. I've never used Flex Pay myself, but hearing them call people "broke" and mock them was completely unprofessional and disgusting.
Unfortunately, it didn’t stop there.
In May, our AC went out on a Monday afternoon, and we didn’t realize until that night. Both of us called after-hours maintenance because we weren’t sure how the process worked. After 30 minutes, we finally received a callback, and the first thing the technician said was, “Y’all can stop calling.” Seriously?
He came by briefly, told us someone would be out the next day, and then left. But the AC wasn’t repaired for FOUR days, even though it was consistently above 85 degrees that whole week. We repeatedly asked them to prioritize it—it was 86–90 degrees inside with over 60% humidity, and I was sick with mono. In Texas, and specifically in Dallas, it is illegal to leave tenants without working AC when indoor temperatures exceed 85°F.
They never offered us a hotel room or temporary accommodation. We had to pay for a hotel out of pocket when I became heat-sick one night. They ignored us until we got visibly angry. When the AC was finally replaced—on Thursday—they installed a low-end Honeywell unit instead of the smart system we were paying for, and left a cut-out piece of drywall bolted to the wall.
All of this happened while we were in the process of trying to renew our 18-month lease.
Thankfully, we didn’t. And I’m so glad we got out.
Alex, the former valet trash collector and janitor, was amazing. Trash was picked up every night, and the property was kept clean. Now, trash is rarely collected, and they won’t even take broken-down boxes anymore. One day, a trash bag ripped while being picked up and a glass vase inside broke. Glass shattered all over the hallway. The valet barely cleaned it up—he looked at the camera, shrugged, scooped up the glass into a small trash bin we had outside, and left it there. No one knocked or alerted us, even though children and pets walk down that hallway regularly.
While attempting to renew, they couldn’t figure out how to process our application. We had to keep following up, asking if we were even going to be allowed to renew as our lease neared its end. They repeatedly said “yes,” but gave us no actual information—just vague responses like “Sorry for the delay on our end!” or “Don’t worry!” But we were worried, and rightfully so. This new management team has shown nothing but poor communication, unprofessionalism, and a lack of care.
We truly didn’t want to move, but we couldn’t tolerate the disrespect—especially not while paying over $1,800 a month.
The one thing they did right was honoring their word and ensuring we weren’t held liable for any renewal-related issues.
Maybe Murn is making changes that will benefit Prairie Crossing in the long run, but they made our last eight months there unbearable.
UPDATE:
While doing our final clean out, I went to close the blinds in the guest room and they collapsed directly on me and scratched up my legs. What a joke!

I’m updating this review after a week to include a video of the ongoing nightmare at this apartment complex. Despite management’s reply claiming, “We care about providing a livable environment,” that statement is an absolute lie. The fire alarms went off again, proving that they have done nothing to resolve this issue.
Imagine being jolted awake at 3 a.m. by the screeching fire alarm, not once, not twice, but repeatedly. Now imagine that this has become so common that residents, myself included, have started ignoring the alarms entirely. It’s terrifying to think what would happen if there were a real emergency because no one takes these alarms seriously anymore.
To highlight just how disruptive this is, I’m including a video. This is what residents here have to endure, and management’s lack of response or action only makes it worse. Complaints are met with silence or hollow excuses, and no meaningful change ever happens. Their disregard for the well-being of their tenants is staggering.
If you value your peace, safety, and sanity, look elsewhere. This place is a nightmare. The alarms are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to how poorly this complex is run.
Do yourself a favor—stay far, far away.
