Just signed my 4th one-year lease agreement. I love my apartment and the staff here at Oakmont. I have a one bedroom with a study. Lots of storage space and having all the windows really lights the place up and makes it feel bigger. Vaulted ceilings in every room except the kitchen and bath. Garage is perfect fit for my small SUV, bike, tennis ball machine and camping gear. My rent has gone up every year that I have been here but not by much. Utilities are reasonable considering I'm on the top floor and don't have the insulating effect of an apartment above me. For the most part the neighbors are quiet. There were some issues recently but those folks have moved so the situation has resolved itself. Maintenance responds to requests quickly, almost always same day even if it's not an emergency. I was originally concerned about airport noise but honestly, the Mid Cities Blvd traffic noise is more disruptive than the airport. Also love having the park and trail so close by. Easy access for walking, jogging or biking without having to drive or ride in traffic. Tenant mix has changed a bit in the last 18 months or so. When I first moved in, it was mostly older either singles or empty nest couples but now I'm seeing a lot more families with kids and young couples. Not a bad thing, just a different vibe.
There are a couple of things I'd like to see changed:
1. Get rid of all the carpeting especially on the interior stairs. There are no electrical outlets in the stairwell so vacuuming always requires a long extension cord and it's just awkward.
2. Require residents to keep their grills in their garages. I get it's a safety thing, cooling off and whatnot, but it just looks junky having them sitting out, covered or not.
3. Better enforcement of the pool rules. It used to be a peaceful retreat but last year it was more like spring break.
Overall it's a great place to live, I've enjoyed my time here so far and for me personally, I've gotten good value for the price.

Oakmont of Bear is an incredible place. I've lived in several different apartment complexes over the years and even worked maintenance at a place during college. The amount of work and efficiency of the maintenance team and office are by far the best I've ever seen. I have not had a single issue since I moved in. The most amazing part to me is the speed of work order responses. Everything has been fixed the same day or the next day every single time. I highly recommend this complex.

It's coming upon my first full year and I could not be happier. The grounds are always groomed and the one maintenance call I had to make in this first year was fixed quickly. All the staff, including the team who keep the grounds and maintenance in check, smile in passing and speak as if they are just part of this great community. If you are a loaner, it's a great place. If you enjoy making friends with your neighbors, it's a great place. The pool is also beautiful and well maintained. Because of the attached garage, the apartment really feels like a small house where you now just have to clean the spaces that you actually live in. If you're a good neighbor, Oakmont of Bear Creek could be your place.

If you’ve looked for an apartment lately or in the last year you know how hard it is to find a good place to live. I actually moved into Oakmont site unseen. I put a deposit down and thankfully was able to get an apartment in time to move back to Texas from Michigan. Although it was scary to move in without knowing what the community or apartment was like, it was the best decision I’ve made. This little community is friendly and everyone looks out for everyone else. The office staff is amazing and are always there to help with whatever you need. Anytime I’ve ever had a maintenance issue it’s been fixed immediately, no questions asked. I just renewed my lease and I’m happy to be here for another year.

I love our community and most neighbors are polite and friendly. However I live near a smoker, who smokes every single day. I’ve had several respiratory infections since she moved in. No matter how much I report it, she doesn’t stop. So much for a smoke free property. I’ve also had packages stolen from my front door and I’ve had my hubcaps stolen right in my driveway while contractors were working. They came back the next day with the exact hubcaps painted black.
Overall this is a wonderful small community but the rules don’t seem to apply to everyone.
