My fiancé and I have lived at Firestone Apartments for nearly two years, and unfortunately, our experience has been overwhelmingly negative due to persistent maintenance issues and poor management response.
From day one, we encountered serious problems. When we first moved in, our refrigerator had a foul odor strong enough to attract gnats, making it unusable for weeks until management finally resolved it. Soon after, our dryer stopped working. Rather than fixing or replacing it promptly, we were told to use a dryer in a vacant unit nearby — a unit that was infested with bugs and had moldy food left out. Only after I refused to use such an unsanitary space did they finally replace our dryer.
The worst issue by far has been the air conditioning. We have not had a working AC system for most of the past 12 months — including the last 6 months straight. Excuses ranged from parts being on backorder due to “winter,” to it simply not being a priority. When we raised concerns with upper management, we were told that “a lot of other people don't have working AC either” and that it’s not urgent during the winter months — even though temperatures were in the mid-70s around Christmas.
Although our unit is listed as having central air and we pay full rent every month, we've had to rely on a small window unit provided by the office. This unit only fits in the dining room window and barely cools that space, making it impossible to comfortably sleep in our bedroom most nights. As a result, we’ve spent many nights sleeping on the couch, which has negatively affected our body. We have called once every 2 weeks in December, to once a week in February to once or twice a day in March and April to where we have given up and decided to not renew our lease. We move out in 2 weeks and can you guess what we still don’t have in this high 80 degree weather??? AC. Have they reimbursed us? No. Are we still having to pay FULL rent for the months we haven’t had AC. Yes. If you value comfortability, this is not the apartment for you.
The gym is another major disappointment. Despite management’s claim that it is cleaned daily, this clearly isn’t the case. The same sweat marks have remained on the TV screens for over two years, and a broken medicine ball left sand on the rack that has yet to be cleaned up — a year later. Most concerning is the lack of sanitary wipes or cleaning supplies to wipe down gym equipment, which poses a hygiene risk. At one point, someone even left a roll of toilet paper in place of wipes as a last resort.
We paid a bit more for a one bedroom expecting a luxury experience — after all, the building literally said “Luxury Apartments” on the side of the building. After a year later, “Luxury” was quietly removed, and now it just says “Apartments”. When we asked management why, they just shrugged and acted like they didn’t notice. No explanation. The downgrade in branding reflects the reality.
While Firestone Apartments might appear appealing from the outside, the lack of basic maintenance, unreliable air conditioning, and unsanitary shared spaces make it incredibly difficult to recommend. We have been very patient and even understanding that things happen but this has gone too far. If you value responsive management, working appliances, and clean amenities, I would suggest looking elsewhere.

Please do yourself a favor and don't waste your time or money on this place. We have had issues since the very first day we moved in, and it all comes down to apathetic, indifferent management. Maintenance issues are rife, between gates that are inoperable more often than not, a pile of sand/gravel in the parking lot that has been there for over 2 months now, dirty facilities, etc. To be fair, the maintenance team is attentive, but there doesn't seem to be enough help for a complex of this size and condition. We've been without a microwave and oven for a month now due to electrical failure, but unfortunately it is "not in the budget" to fix it. Most frustratingly has been our unit itself, which we pay thousands of dollars for. On its best days in the summer, we are lucky if we get down to 78 degrees (even hotter in the bedroom), so we typically spend the summer sleeping on the couch. Several vents in the house don't blow air, which we have been told is normal. Most recently, the AC unit outside makes a high-pitched squealing noise whenever it is on (in the summer, this is 24/7), which no one has attended to and keeps us up all night, despite multiple maintenance requests. We reported a robbery to the front desk at one point, to which they replied, "Well why was the garage open?" The list goes on and on, seriously, do not consider this place, unless you enjoy paying $600 per month for a hot, sticky, unbearable unit. The worst part is their lack of accountability- management will either not reply to this, or say something snarky, like, "Sorry you feel this way, we responded to all of your work orders and closed them." This is true, however just because they are closed does not mean they are fixed. Several times, work orders have been closed, without actually being resolved, so you then have to put them in again (and probably again). This is what happened, for example, with the squealing AC unit... I noticed the order was closed as I was listening to it make the noise we reported. If you want to call the front desk, I'd advise using the extension for new tenants, as they answer that one immediately, but will hardly ever answer or call back on the line for existing tenants. It has been beyond frustrating to pay this amount of money, only to be consistently given the runaround and not hear your concerns taken seriously. Don't waste your hard-earned money, there are so many better options in Fort Worth.

Hi I just moved in a few weeks ago from Boston. At first it was a slow application process which was a bit frustrating for me moving from out of state I needed to plan my drive and movers accordingly. Fortunately once I was able to communicate my concern things moved quickly and seamlessly (thank you John). I thought this would reflect my living situation however I’m happy to say everything has been very nice. Little maintenance issues such as my windows being hard to open or the carbon monoxide detector needing new batteries. I’m extremely pleased to say their response has been rapid. So rapid I submitted a request left to the store and when I came back it was already fixed. I’m very happy with my apartment. To the maintenance workers I’m sorry I forgot your names but you’re doing FANTASTIC!

I was warned not to rent here from other residents and I should have listened. One of the worst mistakes of my life. To start off the apartments are old so there are constant things that need fixing . We had multiple leaks and the floor kept ripping apart from nothing. The windows aren’t sealed correctly so we got mold every week no matter how many bleach cleanings which they did not do any thing about when we brought it up. They asked to vacate the apartment after we paid that months rent and then charged us $7,000 to send to collections of false charges after keeping our security deposit. I really hope the people that work for Firestone and wieder get good sleep at night from all the evil they do. I warn everyone DO NOT RENT FROM FIRESTONE OR ANY WEIDNER property.
