Did not pick the best day to arrive. It was lightly rainy and not much security and cops were out since it was a holiday. Lot of drunken bums were hanging out outside near the liquor store on the first floor when I arrived and a demi celebrity and Airbnb guest as well escorted me pass to help. The cops shooed them away the next day. Since the garage is detached I do not suggest going to and from the building late at night alone. The Butler Bros building is low key an underground motel. I would suggest looking up the building on local sites and Google reviews before booking. The other end of the building is a name brand hotel and the other side where Airbnbs are located is supposed to be the residential side. There probably should be more residential units and less Airbnb units due to affordable housing shortage in the city. The actual corner unit was super cute, cozy, and spacious though, unbeatable city views. Very creative, industrial, and archaic for certain projects. The inside kind of reminds me of an alien spaceship with the metallic exposed piping and dark mechanical aesthetic (in a cool way). Look up the buildings interesting history. There was a very faint chem smell in the hallway and unit (possibly paint or concrete lacquer?) but most may not notice. Also be advised the clubhouse amenities close very early (explained by a somewhat uptight leasing agent there) which makes it impractical to utilize except for the gym & pool open much later. Maintenance or host entered unit without notice while away and left lights on. Host Farhan mentioned an extra privacy deadbolt was available but there was not, only the sometimes easily decipherable keypad deadbolt. Plus free parking but may have to wait in line since it is valet only. Lastly beware of “new” Airbnb postings for this location as some get deleted and relisted to remove unfavorable reviews. Still an excellent location however It is not a fit for everyone but may have its uses for the right crowd. Rating 3 instead of 4 or 5 due to security concerns. It is salty and sweet maybe setting up a valet shed at the very front entrance would help so guest/residents would have more supervision when exiting or entering.
