I have been living here for three years now and will be moving out next month. The new management has not been doing a good job with upkeeping the facility, communication, and notification. My lease is scheduled to end in May and they did not send anything asking if I wanted to renew or end my lease, so I could've been in a bind, if I wasn't paying attention. I went to the office and asked when does my lease end and they told me June, when I asked why haven't they sent renewal emails or letters, they said that they have been having issues with their system and it should be going out soon. June didn't sound right to me so I went back into the office and asked for a copy of my lease, and it showed that my lease was ending in May not June, so the lady at the office told me to send it via email letting them know. I sent the email and received no response, so I sent a letter letting them know that I will not be renewing my lease. They didn't respond, so I waited a few days to see if they received my email with the letter and they said oh yeah we received it. This feels very uncomfortable and unprofessional. I will be going back to the office to make sure they don't expect a full rent payment next month since I won't be there the full month and that there isn't any problems since their system for some reason shows that my lease ends in June, but my lease agreement shows May. I also feel like management handles things nonchalantly and it shouldn't be that way. Someone stole my package from the mail room and when I told the manager about it, he told me to file a dispute as if I didn't know to do that. He acted like it was no big deal and then started telling me how he had one of his packages stolen. Very strange way to respond to a resident telling you about their stolen package, from a facility that you're managing. I laughed it off but honestly it really pissed me off. That is not the best way to respond to someone who told you about theft. This apartment costs entirely too much for things to be this way and sadly I cannot wait to move out. I just hope I do not have any issues and that I receive my security deposit back without any delays or problems.
