I have lived here for almost three years, and I have never had a problem! Maintenance comes very quickly, the office staff, especially Maribel Magana, are wonderfully helpful and lovely. My air conditioner was on the fritz last week, and I called the office and chatted with Maribel. She had a maintenance person to my apartment within 20 minutes, and they were able to fix the issue right away. The courtyard and pool area had beautiful updates, and the flowers and landscaping are always lovely, too.

I lived at Alara Uptown for 15 months, and my experience was deeply disappointing. Here’s why:
Security: My car was broken into within my second month living here. Despite the management’s claims of improved security measures, I’ve seen multiple recent reviews mentioning continued break-ins, suggesting that their efforts are either insufficient or mismanaged. It’s hard to feel safe in a place where this is a recurring issue.
Management Priorities: Based on my interactions with the property managers, it’s clear that revenue takes precedence over tenant satisfaction. Hidden fees and charges, especially during the move-out process, made me feel exploited rather than valued as a resident.
Maintenance Problems: Broken elevators and frequent water shut-offs were a constant frustration. These issues significantly detract from the experience of living in a place marketed as a high-end property.
These problems aren’t isolated to this property—they reflect a broader pattern I noticed while living in Uptown, where appearances are prioritized over substance. The area itself, though advertised as prestigious, feels more like a surface-level attraction plagued by real issues, including a high crime rate and a culture of superficiality.
I’ve since moved to Austin and have experienced a stark contrast in quality of life, with better management and community-focused living. I strongly encourage prospective tenants to consider other options and avoid contributing to the exploitative practices I experienced here.

Just renewed for my 3rd year. They asked me to leave a review so I will give my honest opinion. The Alara is a great location and I have been very happy. I’ve lived in deep ellum and Knox district and this is by far THE very best. There have been many updates around the pool and inside areas for us. People do let their dogs pee in the hall but it gets cleaned up quickly. Visitor parking is limited and the high school traffic gets bad at 4. I see a lot come and go but there are more of us that stay . People complaining about elevators are being dramatic. There are 3 elevators and it’s 5 floors. I love it here!

I have been living at Alara for 7 months now, and have not encountered any of the complaints in the recent negative reviews. I moved from a HORRIBLE 'luxury' building in Deep Ellum and can confidently say with my entire being that this is a night and day difference. I no longer fear for my safety, no longer have to wonder if I will come home to a burglarized apartment or find my car had been stolen out of the garage. I have had 0 problems and 0 issues. I do not hear my neighbors, and I live on the first floor. The only complaint I have is the visitor parking - it is limited and the residents who live at Alara tend to park there instead of their reserved spots included in their lease because they are lazy and inconsiderate. This makes it extremely hard for visitors to find parking. Shoutout to Delia for finding me the perfect apartment at a great rate.
